John P. Gens, MD, FACS
Dr. Gens is a Board Certified General Surgeon who has practiced in the Seacoast since 1978. He continues to be on the forefront.
He completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology at Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut and earned his Medical Doctorate from George Washington University Medical School. His surgical training in General Surgery occurred at George Washington as well.
Dr. Gens has held numerous leadership positions including Deputy Commander of Hospital Services at the Grand Forks Air Force Base, Assistant Clinical Professor in Surgery at the University of North Dakota Medical School. He was Chief of General Surgery of the Pease Air Force Base Hospital, and upon leaving the service earned the rank of Lieutenant Colonel and was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal. He has been Chief of Surgery, American College of Surgeons Cancer Liaison, and Chair of multiple committees such as Bariatric at Portsmouth Regional Hospital. He is also currently serving on the Foundation for Seacoast Health Board.
