Dr. Looser has been practicing in the Portsmouth area for over 26 years. His undergraduate degree was from Fairfield University (BS Biology) and he then received his Medical Doctorate from Albany Medical College. He completed his internship and residency in General Surgery at Hartford Hospital. Following that Dr. Looser served two years as an American Cancer Society Fellow in Surgical Oncology at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City. The Air Force brought him to the Seacoast and gave him the title of Chief of General Surgery at Pease Air Force Base. He started working at Portsmouth Hospital in 1979, and continues currently there. Starting the new year he will be the Chief of Staff for 2003-2004. Dr. Looser is a member of the American College of Surgeons, the New England Cancer Society, the American Society of General Surgeons, the New England Surgical Society and the American Society of Breast Surgeons. John Paul Gens, Jr., M.D., F.A.C.S Dr. Gens has also been practicing in the Seacoast area for over twenty-six years. He obtained his undergraduate education at Trinity College (BS Biology) in Hartford, Connecticut and then received his Medical Doctorate from George Washington University Medical School. He completed his internship and residency in general surgery at George Washington University's Surgical Program. Dr. Gens joined the Air Force at Grand Forks Air Force Base in Grand Forks, North Dakota, where he was appointed Deputy Commander of Hospital Services as well as Assistant Clinical Professor in Surgery at the University of North Dakota Medical School. He then joined the Seacoast community at Pease Air Force Base Hospital in 1979, where became Chief of General Surgery in 1981. Upon leaving the service he obtained the rank of Lieutenant Colonel and was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal. He is currently on active staff at Portsmouth Regional Hospital. Atlantic Surgical Associates was founded by Dr. Gens and Dr. Looser in 1981. Dr. Gens is a member of the American College of Surgeons, the International College of Surgeons, the New England Surgical Society, the New England Cancer Society, and the American Society of Breast Surgeons. Dr. Paciulli, the newest member of Atlantic Surgical, graduated from Baylor University (BA Psychology) and then attended the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School. She completed her internship and residency in General Surgery at the University of Maryland School of Medicine, where she also performed a research fellowship in gastrointestinal physiology. Last year she completed a fellowship in advanced laparoscopy at the Carolinas Medical Center, the Carolinas Laparoscopic and Advanced Surgery Program. Dr. Paciulli joined Atlantic Surgical in 2002. Dr. Paciulli is a member of the Society of American Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons, the American Society of Breast Surgeons, and an associate member of the American College of Surgeons.
